This is Joel. Sweet, loving, laid back and all around gentle giant. He is pretty sure he is a lap dog but at close to 70 pounds we beg to differ. Joel was returned to the shelter for reasons unknown. He has been with his foster family since June and underwent heartworm treatment. He is a healthy blockhead now. He is smart, attentive and just plain good. He is housebroken and leash trained. He sits on command and is ever so gentle when retrieving treats from human hands. He has one issue that has improved greatly and will improve even more over time. He doesn’t like loud noises. He doesn’t shake and hide from them. He seeks them out both physically and verbally. This may be why he was returned.
The phrase *Who’s a good boy* must have been coined from Joel because the phrase fits. Joel loves all kids, and dogs. Because of his ginormous heart and even bigger body, Joel would probably do better with kids and dogs his size. He could accidently knock a small person over and sit on them.
Please consider this big old teddy bear of a dog as a part of your family. You won’t regret it.
Adoption includes vetcheck, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. Current on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.

Dog Adoption Application
Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).
Local adoptions preferred (within Greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes). We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.
