When Brielle first arrived, she had been at the shelter for 2 months. When one of our volunteers first saw her in her kennel, she looked so small, even smaller than her 45 lbs. Tiny and lost. But, even then, she was very sweet, and gave kisses through the kennel. At that time, she had only been at the shelter for about a week, having been dropped off as a stray in late June 2018. When her stray hold was up it seemed that there was hope that Brielle would  have a rather short stay. Someone applied for her, and she was vetted a little over 2 weeks after she arrived. Unfortunately, Brielle tested positive for heartworms, but she would be able to be treated because she had a home, and so we could rest assured that she did not need our help. But, Brielle's almost-family never showed back up for her.

So, Brielle continued to wait for a home to call her own, but not only to receive the lifetime of love she deserved, but also so that she could receive the heartworm treatment she needs. You see, Brielle had to be in a home environment before treatment could begin. When no one showed up for her, the treatment was cancelled. So, we took Brielle in.

Brielle walks well on a leash and does well with other dogs, but can be puppy-ish at first, so she would do best with a tolerant and understanding other dog. She will no doubt bring joy to a family that chooses her as their own.

Current on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. Current on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.

If you are interested, please fill out a  Dog Adoption Application

Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).

** Local adoptions preferred (within Greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes). We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.
